Energia is what we need!
Nino Augustine partners with Jossman on this chill, Afrofusion track that’s all about protecting your energy so you can work hard and be the best version of yourself you can be. Energía sets the tone for 2022, and it’s all about surrounding yourself with good vibes and making things happen.
Coming off the May release of Global Ninz, a project that showcased his multilingual range and versatility with songs across afro-diasporic genres – also listed in Rolling Stone’s best Spanish-language and bilingual albums of 2021 – Nino continues the ongoing exploration of his Black roots with this vibey track. “It’s always been important for me to highlight my Black roots,” Nino explains. “I am constantly inspired by Black music, first in Latin America and the Caribbean, and later music directly from the continent. Watching that creative space has really sparked my own creativity,” he says.
The video is directed by Jimmy Usma and was shot in Medellin, Colombia.
